Hey eGain community! We’ve all been there—copying and pasting content from a Word document into your articles, only to find that it looks totally wonky in the editor or on the portal. :grimacing: So, what’s the best way to handle this? Let’s talk about the right way to paste formatted content without causing headaches for yourself or your users!

The Best Practice: Use “Clean HTML” Tools! :sparkles:

When you’re pasting content from an external source (like Word), don’t just hit Ctrl + V or use the Paste button and hope for the best! Word adds a bunch of hidden styling that can mess with the formatting. But don’t worry, there’s a simple solution:

Use the “Paste from Word” feature in the authoring toolbar. This tool strips out all that extra formatting mess and ensures your content shows up looking exactly as you want it on the portal.

What Happens If You Just Paste Normally? :man_facepalming:

When you paste content the regular way (good ol’ Ctrl + V or the Paste button), you’re going to end up with a lot of extra HTML code. This means unnecessary styles, fonts, and formatting that can make your article look all sorts of wrong. It’s like trying to wear two pairs of socks with sandals—awkward and not very pretty.

What Happens with “Paste from Word”? :sparkles:

When you use the Paste from Word option, you keep the formatting you want but get a cleaner version of the HTML. This helps maintain the look of your content while making sure it displays properly on the portal. So, you get the best of both worlds—formatted content and no messy code!
